# Extending a Coupon's Validity for shopify stores
Extending a Coupon's Validity
Applies to: Shopify Admin → Discounts | Time required: ~1 minute | Access needed: Store admin
If a discount code is about to expire but should keep running, you can update its end date directly in Shopify — no need to create a new code.
Steps
1\. Open Discounts. Log in to Shopify Admin and click Discounts in the left sidebar.
2\. Find your coupon. Search for the coupon code you want to extend, then click it to open the discount.
3\. Update the end date. Scroll to the Active dates card and change the End date field to the new expiry date.
4\. Save. Click Save. The coupon stays valid through the new end date — the code itself doesn't change, so you don't need to re-share it.
▎ No end date set? The discount is already running indefinitely — you only need this if the coupon has a defined expiry you want to push out.
